Masjid-e-Jahan-Numa, especially known as Jama Masjid – Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India.

The Mughal ruler Shah Jahan built this mosque between 1644 and 1656 at a cost of 1 million rupees. The construction of this mosque was completed in 1656 AD with three huge doors, four towers and a 40 meter high tower and red stone and white marble.

In its courtyard, about 25000 people can come together. It also has three domes on its roof which is surrounded by two towers. There are about 899 black borders on the floor. Shah Jahan’s son Aurangzeb, the architect plan of the Badshahi Mosque, was made in Lahore, Pakistan, which was exactly like the Jama Masjid.

The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the Jama Masjid between 1644 and 1656. This mosque was built by about 5000 workers. Actually it was called Masjid-e-Jahan-Numa. It was built under the leadership of Sadullah Khan, who was a wazir under Shah’s rule.

At that time it cost nearly 1 million rupees to build it. Shah Jahan also built Taj Mahal in Agra and Red Fort in New Delhi, it is in the opposite direction of Jama Masjid.

The construction of Jama Masjid was completed in 1656 AD (1066 AH). The mosque was inaugurated on July 23, 1656 by Mullah Imam Bukhari of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, all of which he sent only after sending an invitation to Shah Jahan.

At one time, 25000 people can pray together in Jama Masjid and that is why it is also called India’s largest mosque. This mosque is commonly called “Jama” which means Friday.
